Jurby Airfield.
Designed as an RAF training airfield, it opened in 1939 and also served
as a fighter base until Andreas opened. In the 1960s the main runway
was lengthened to allow Viscount turboprop aircraft to use it as an diversion
if Ronaldsway was unavailable.
